Soup Kitchen – (“A Cozinha”)
We offer food, clothing and friendship to needy citizens of Portimão.
We serve meals to about 70 people three times per week and offer used clothing- all without cost. (We prepare about 80 litres of home-made soup and about 500 sandwiches each week)
You can find the Soup Kitchen in Beco S.José, Rua S.José near the old bridge in Portimão (behind the new sardine restaurants)
We do not receive any funding from any government agencies, or any food from the food bank. We rely solely on the donations of both food and money from individual people or groups.
Here are some ways you could help:
1. GIVE TIME: Give a couple of hours to set tables, wash dishes and serve soup & sandwiches. All volunteers are welcome.
2. GIVE FOOD: useful items are bags of sliced bread, margarine, packets of sliced ham & cheeses, bottles of concentrated fruit squash, fresh fruit, cakes etc. You could also make up bags of sandwiches and bring them ready-made to drop off at the soup kitchen. Containers of of home-made soup are also very welcome.
3. GIVE MONEY: not everyone has time to help but some might like to help cover the costs of the weekly supplies of bread, ham, cheese, fruit & veg, etc.
