AOA stands out with its Breast Cancer Screening Program in the Algarve, launched in 2005, which covers women aged 50 to 69, promoting early diagnosis in every municipality through a mobile unit, “Pinky.” Thanks to this modern unit, equipped with tomosynthesis, it’s possible to perform mammograms with greater precision and less radiation, screening over 15,000 women annually, one of the highest participation rates in the country. This project has even been awarded, recognizing its positive impact on women’s health in the Algarve.
Additionally, thanks to the construction of the Algarve Radiotherapy Unit, inaugurated in 2006 as the first of its kind south of the Tagus River, patients no longer have to travel to other parts of the country for radiotherapy treatments. The unit performs around 19,000 treatments annually, and in 2017, it integrated the TRUE BEAM linear accelerator, enabling faster, more precise treatments while protecting healthy tissues around the tumor.

This support allows part of the tax to be applied to the State for this solidarity cause. This is without any charge or loss of tax benefit, that is, in the case of a refund you do not receive less and in the case of additional tax, you do not pay more.
