Memory Lane

Memory Lane is an authorised organisation who raises funds under the Association Guarda Chuva Charity. 

Funds raised for Memory Lane provide help and support for people and their families who are living with Dementia and people who find their self socially alone in the Algarve.

Loneliness is one of the biggest causes of depression which can also trigger the onset of Dementia. Charity donations fund our Happy Cafes and social events calendar that will run across the Algarve on a monthly basis.

We welcome people living with Dementia and others who find their-self alone and secluded, to come and enjoy a social gathering where they can make friends and speak to others experiencing the same journey. They also have the opportunity to gain access to help and advice about living with Dementia and loneliness in the Algarve. 

Our event calendar includes suitable outings for elderly individuals with Dementia and people with limited mobility and gives everyone a chance to take time out from their usual setting and create new friendships whilst enjoying new things to do.

Funds also allow our Friendly Face volunteers to keep in contact with someone who finds their self lonely and becoming socially excluded. Our Friendly Faces offer companionship and conversation and can give support and guidance if someone does feel they have no one they can turn to.
