O lagar de Varas de Fojo
“O lagar de Varas de Fojo” was an old community-type mill, meaning anyone who had an olive could bring it to this mill and process it, leaving a portion of the olive oil produced to the mill owner. It evolved from the Roman olive oil production system operating for 100 years between 1841 and 1941.
It was classified as a building of Public Interest in 1986. It is currently requalified as a museum, open to the public. The collection maintains the original machinery of the mill, and presents information that provides a thorough understanding of how the mill operated, along with information of the daily production and the history of olive oil.
