October 2017 was the first time I set about a project to help an elderly Portuguese lady who was in a far from ideal living situation.

I had no idea how much work was involved, oh boy!

I found some amazing people who helped me to make a success of this endeavour and I quickly came to realise that a Facebook group like this would be a useful tool for everyone interested in charity. 

There are many amazing people, all with different expertise, some people working at grass roots level and needing help. Some people with fabulous ideas but no time to act on their ideas. Others who want to help but don’t know where they can be useful. There are people who have things to donate but don’t know who could make best use of it. The aim of the Portugal Charity Chat room Facebook Group is to bring these all these people together.

We have begun to create resource sheets to help charity event organisers. The first being a list of potential stall holders for fundraising events. The next, which is in the pipeline, is a calendar of charity events and activities. We have more useful resource lists that will be available later this year and early next year.

Since its conception the Admin Team, have held networking events where people have come together and formed strong links moving forward together to help needy families and animals in the Algarve. My vision is to see this networking spread across Portugal in satellite groups but still sharing ideas, and where appropriate sharing donated item.
