The two main topics of yesterday’s briefing have now been clarified and the latest information is included in this briefing, together with news about blood shortages in the transfusion service.

Masks in public: The President of the Republic has now signed and issued the law regarding the wearing of masks in public, which comes into force at midnight tonight and lasts until January 5th 2021. During this period the wearing of masks is mandatory “where social distancing measures cannot be implemented”. Please remember that the fines for non-compliance range between €100 - €500.

Circulation prohibited between municipalities: There has been a slight change to the restriction on travel between municipalities over the coming weekend, with the end of the prohibition being brought forward to 06:00 on the 3rd (originally midnight that day). Commencing at 00:01 on Friday 30th of October until the 3rd of November, circulation between municipalities is prohibited unless you have a specific reason for the travel. As a reminder, travel to the airport to take someone to catch a flight can go ahead, providing that you have the proof of the flight to show and also keep it with you for the return journey. Of course on the return you will be travelling home and be able to provide proof of address, but it will help if you have evidence of the reason for the trip in the first place.

Appointments already made with an official body, such as a medical appointment, SEF, Finanças etc can be attended, providing you have proof of the appointment with you. If you are required to travel to work, have a document signed by your employer to state that you need to travel to your place of employment.

Blood Bank shortages: The Portuguese Federation of Benevolent Blood Donors is advising that stocks of type O+ and A+ blood types are in short supply and they are appealing to donors to give blood. However, anyone who was living in the UK in the 1980’s at the time of the CJD outbreak is prohibited from giving blood in Portugal.

BLiP Expo 2020: BLiP Expo continues to gather pace, with even more businesses requesting their ‘stand space’ since the weekend. To those who have not yet visited BLiP, please do – and tell everyone you know that they should to. We are trying to do something to help businesses and it costs nothing except your time to visit BLiP online and support our initiative to support businesses.

The website is open 24 hours a day for the whole period, so you can visit as often as you like and there are no masks required and social distancing is guaranteed. So please visit www.bliportugal.com from any device of your choosing and have a look around.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR INITIATIVE TO HELP BUSINESSES
