The law about the Situation of Alert was published this weekend and came into force on the 19th of February. The restrictions are as mentioned in our Friday mailing without changes. There is also a new law for travel, and this is good news for our Canadian Members, who are now allowed to enter Portugal for non-essential purposes. Furthermore, there is a change to validity of documents.
Situation of Alert
The Situation of Alert throughout mainland Portugal is in place from the 19th of February until 23h59 on the 7th of March 2022.

Travel to Portugal Mainland
A new Decree law came into force on the 19th of February with one change to the previous law and will remain in force until 23h59 of the 28th of February (as usual this can be reviewed at any time depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation).
The following has changed:
Allowed to enter Portugal (essential and non-essential travel):

The Situation of Alert throughout mainland Portugal is in place from the 19th of February until 23h59 on the 7th of March 2022.

Travel to Portugal Mainland
A new Decree law came into force on the 19th of February with one change to the previous law and will remain in force until 23h59 of the 28th of February (as usual this can be reviewed at any time depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation).
The following has changed:
Allowed to enter Portugal (essential and non-essential travel):
- Brazil, USA, Canada, and UK.
All the other information remains the same.
Extension of validity for documents and visas
Documents and visas relating to stay in Portugal, whose validity expires from the 19th of February or within the 15 days immediately preceding, are accepted, under the same terms, until 30th of June 2022.
The documents referred continue to be accepted under the same terms after 30th of June 2022, provided that their holder proves that they have already scheduled the respective renewal.
Satellite Office in Almancil
There will be a Satellite Office in Almancil on Wednesday 23rd of February in the MEDAL office. The Satellite will be open between 10h00 and 12h30 for Members who would like to speak with a staff member in person. As the MEDAL office waiting space is limited, please reserve a time in advance and we ask that you arrive promptly to avoid congestion. There is a coffee shop across the road from the MEDAL office if the reception area is full when you arrive.

A reminder that the afpop office is open to visitors, however to avoid congestion in the reception area, I ask that if possible Members book an appointment prior to their visit by email info@afpop.com or telephone 282 458 509. We look forward to welcoming you.
Extension of validity for documents and visas
