3. Bank holiday
4. Fraudulent e-mail AT
5. Summer events reminder
6. Satellite Offices
Good afternoon to you all and welcome to this first Member Briefing for June. The Portuguese environment agency website is carrying a warning that from this weekend temperatures are set to rise and also warnings of dust clouds that frequently visit us. Whilst it isn’t unusual for North African dust to descend upon us, it can cause difficulties for those people with any kind of breathing issues. Temperatures are expected to rise to 40º in some areas, particularly the Vale do Tejo, Beira Baixa and the south. More information can be found on the IPMA website.
As we approach the summer and as the new government settles into its work, there isn’t too much to tell you in this week’s briefing, although the parasites are back trying to scam you with e-mails about Finanças, as you will see below.
So for now, here is this week’s information:
IRC and IES deadline extended
Those Members who own companies will be interested to know that due to the difficulties in accessing the Finance Portal and the proximity of the new deadlines for complying with tax obligations in terms of IVA, the government has extended the deadline for complying with this obligation once again until the 30th of June and the deadline for submitting the IES/annual declaration until the 25th of July.
Electrical Blackout report
The Portuguese government published the reports from the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), the National Communications Authority (ANACOM) and the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT) following the electrical blackout of the 28th of April. The reports analyse the impact of the general interruption of electricity supply in each of the three sectors and list a set of recommendations and measures. If you are interested, you can find it here (it is in Portuguese, but you can use the translator of your browser).
Bank Holiday
Corpus Christi ‘Corpo de Deus’ is a Christian holiday 60 days after Easter and this year it falls on Thursday, the 19th of June. The afpop office will be closed on that day.
Fraudulent e-mail AT
The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) has issued another new alert for fraudulent messages after several fake e-mails have been sent purporting to be from them. The message in question instructs the receiver to click on the links provided in an attempt to obtain personal data, which of course should never be done. See the example below:
