Extraordinary mailing, expired Residency documents
1. Residency documents expired between 22/02/2020 and 30/06/2025
2. AIMA Residency Renewals Portal: July to October 2025
Good morning and welcome to this additional News from afpop. You are receiving this extraordinary mailing because there is news on the expired Residency situation. PLEASE NOTE: If you have a valid Residency document, or if you have already started the renewal process of an expired Residency document, then this mailing does not have any other information, and you can ignore it.
Residency documents expired between 22/02/2020 and 30/06/2025
We have reported in earlier briefings that AIMA will be contacting people whose Residency document expired between 22/02/2020 and 30/06/2025 and many Members have already been contacted and have begun the process for renewal. If you have NOT YET been contacted by email, there is now a possibility on the AIMA website to inform them that you have not received their email. If that is your situation, go to the link below and click on “I wasn’t notified”. This will take you to another page where you fill in your Residency number, Residency expiry date, mobile phone, email address and the district that you live in, complete the CAPTCHA and click submit. Once successfully submitted, you should wait to be contacted by email by AIMA to start the renewal process. https://services.aima.gov.pt/renovadc.php?la=en
We tested the procedure with an EU citizen who has a Certificate of Residency (CRUE) that expired in the mentioned period, it did work and the letter E that all Certificate of Residency documents have in front of their number, should be included at the front of the residency number. Non-EU citizens only have to include the residency number without the preceding ‘E’.
If you can’t submit the information when using the English version, please change to the Portuguese version.
AIMA Residency Renewals Portal: July to October 2025
The Renewals Portal https://portal-renovacoes.aima.gov.pt/ords/r/aima/aima-pr/pr-home is now also available for Residence Permit renewals expiring in October 2025. Unfortunately, it is still not ready for renewals for EU citizens with Cartão de Residência and Certificado de Residência (CRUE). We will keep Members up to date as soon as there is more news for EU citizens who needed to renew their Residency document from the 1st of July 2025.
