IUC change for imported vehicles

The Portuguese Government is reviewing the annual vehicle tax (IUC - Imposto Único de Circulação) tables for imported vehicles. Thousands of people have paid more IUC than they should, due to a serious fiscal irregularity that was challenged by the European Union, where Portugal infringed Article 110 of the Treaty on European Union, which in its wording "prevents a Member State from directly or indirectly imposing taxes on imported products higher than those imposed on similar national products".
